The Highway Safety Manual (HSM) provides analytical tools and techniques for quantifying the safety impacts of highway design elements. It is a compilation of decades of highway safety research and is a very useful resource for transportation professionals. I have created a two-part overview of the HSM to introduce this tool to transportation safety practitioners.
